Front Panel CNC

Can anyone please recommend a good CNC place to get a front-panel done in Europe (UK prefered).

I don’t think Shaeffer/Front Panel Express will do, as I have at least 1 type of hole to be cut they don’t have in their software,.

:o

What´s that hole? How does it look like?

Perhaps you can simulate that hole by putting together different geometries?

i need some triangle shapes - base is 3mm, sides 4.5mm

… I think I know what you want: Is it for triangle shaped LEDs?

The problem is, that you wandt sharp edges but this is not possible, since you always have the diameter of the grinding tool.

Triangle with sharp corners have to be punched or Laser-Cutted.

Cheers Roger,

I think you are right, have found somewhere who will do it for me, very cheap too, they were talking about punches.

and you were also right about the LEDs

mmmm, triangle…

… cool! I was thinking about that too but let it go exactly because of this problem

The CNC ones are very loud and scary, but the result is comparable with laser cut.

I’m still looking for a DIY water saw project…

we like loud and scarey if it means top quality, even more so when someone else is operating it!

a DIY water saw sounds cool, as long as the safety angle is covered, the danger and mess you could get with problems and troubleshooting could be quite hairy…

There was a DIY CNC laser project mentioned on hackaday or makezine recently.  Pretty impressive, guy built his own CO2 laser.

Another option for getting stuff made up is emachineshop.com, but they’re in the US.

Oh yeah,

I’m a chef by trade, so here is a trade secret. Second hand or defunct and broken kitchen equipment is lying around nearly every hotel in the world. It is thrown out only when the political will od the head chef motivates him to hire a skip or contact a recycling firm- and they cost big money. Not nice having a chunk of your bonus package going into throwing things out, is it?

So most will jump at the chance of having someone take it out of their way for free.

And yes, it’s all made of high grade stainless steel!!!

Keep cookin’

Mark.

Yeah I just scored a dead microwave that way, with a nice shiny stainless steel case ;D

Must have been a different project where the guy built his own laser tube as well.  Pretty sure it was on one of those two sites.
