Figuring out bankstick construction

I’m trying to figure out how to wire my banksticks. I have 3 24LC512 chips, 3 8-pin sockets, a perfboard, and some wire.

Is there a cleaner way to do this? Is it a good idea to create “hubs” for wire groups like this? That’s how I built my optimized PSU, and it works.

I generally try to work with pad-per-hole vero as if it were a “regular” pcb :slight_smile:

Solder the components first, then use resistor legs or thin wire and tack it on as “traces”. Red is jumper wires on the component side. Doing it this way helped me not fuck up quite a few boards by now and they are physically pretty stable as opposed to using flying wire foo :slight_smile:

WARNING To anyone using this as reference: This is a top-view of the board (looking at the components instead of the solder side). When you flip the board over to solder, things will be mirrored. Follow the schematic!

Haha, awesome, I didn’t know your pad-per-hole actually had the exact size you used in your layout otherwise I woulda made it fit :slight_smile: Nice work!

I probably should have used a bigger board, but it barely fits, so I’m good.

I should probably remake my PSU with resistor leads.

I have some wire with a solid copper core (the box says it’s called hook-up wire). You can use a pliers to bend this around like a PCB trace. It lies flat against the bottom of the board and it will not come unbent easily when laid flat under there. That’s how I made some banksticks once. I did a number of individual little leads like above but never thought to run a track - great idea.
