Does this have MIDI in and out ?

Hi,

Just in the process of building my MB project (most of the parts have arrived, some of the kits built already, all coming along very nicely  :slight_smile: ), and it dawned on me last night that my PC does not have MIDI in/out ports !! (doh !)

What I do have however is an M-Audio Oxygen8 keyboard which has a pair of 5 pin dins which look like MIDI in/out but suspisiously are not labeled as such:

Am I right in thinking these are not MIDI in/out that I can use with my MB project ??

Assuming I can’t use them, can anyone suggest a cheap USB MIDI port ? (my PC does not have a game port as otherwise I’d use that !)

I have found plenty on flea bay such as this:

… Yes, you’re right. It’s only a MIDI OUT coming from the PC side.

In this case, the Midi Data is coming:

  • from the controller (left: “MIDI-OUT Keyboard”)

  • from the computer (right: “MIDI-OUT USB”)

The problem is though, that you don’t have no MIDI-In, wich means you can get data to your MB but not from it.

Hmm, its cheaper, but by the time they’ve added shipping to the UK, it bumps the price back up again !

I’m not from the UK. I posted this link to show you that alternatives do exist ::slight_smile:
