Dimension fault in dokuwiki MB6582???

Just noticed a fault in the pcb dimensions given in the dokuwiki.

http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/wilba_mb_6582

-The base PCB is exactly 9200mil x 7215mil (9.2 inches x 7.215 inches). This fits exactly into the PT-10 case by PacTec, with mount holes that line up with the case standoffs.

If i take 9.2" multiply this with 2.54 cm (1") =  23,36 cm or 233,6 mm

If i take 7.215" multiply this with 2.54 cm    =  18,33 cm or 183,3 mm

Am i right?

if a mil was a mm…

and a mm was 1/100 cm…

Then what is a mil ??? A windmill? We got lots of those here… ;)  Very confusing  ??? We, here in Holland, use ‘normal’ measures..  :stuck_out_tongue:

And isn’t a mm 1/10 cm…

A thou, also known as a mil, is a unit of length equal to 0.001 inches (a “milli-inch” or a “thousandth of one inch”).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thou_(unit_of_length

Most PCBs are laid out in mil because standard unit of spacing is 100mil (IC pins, SIL headers, LED leads, etc.)

Okay getting it 8) US measures, European measures…when will the world decide that a lenght is a lenght… all this conversion is driving me mad with 200 mph which is about 320 kmph :o

US measures, European measures

actually they are called the “metric system” (meters, kilogramms, liters, degrees Celsius, etc) and the “Imperial Units” (inch, foot, yard, mile, gallon, ounce,.. all the “weird stuff”, see the those charts).

note that there are only 3 countries where the metric system is not the primary or sole system of measurement:

Liberia, Burma, and… damn… I can’t remember the last one.  ;D

I think it’s the USA…

Been trying for all my life but I cant add up your subtraction.

Work’ date=’ eat, playthen go to sleep that won’t get me no satisfaction.

Gotta find a way out yeah a way out of this mess.

So sick of trying to make my time last and ending up with less.

I know your way of doing things and it has lost its attraction.

Why settle for twenty-four when I can have a hundred fractions.

Who knew I’d be the one pulling off the perfect crime.

So heres my new line I’ll change your mind and the metric system to time.

Caused trouble all over town and it’s bound to start a reaction.

Metric time will come around it’s gonna overtake your contraction I’ve found a way out yeah a way out of this stress.

I made my time last and its total success.

Got my way of doing things and its bound to gain your attraction.

A hundred hours is my supply its gonna give us all satisfaction.

No doubt I’d be the one pulling off the perfect crime.

So here’s my new line I’ll change my mind and the metric system to time.

edit: typo

maybe it would be different if kilometer were pronounced correctly…

“Check out the big brain of SLP” ;D ;D “The metric system that’s right” No quarterpounders here… :stuck_out_tongue:

No quarterpounders here…

Royale with Cheese?

;D ;D ;D :stuck_out_tongue:

the big brain of SLP

yeh.. it’s like a huge library… with the lights turned off  ;D

© Stryd_one IIRC. Can’t find it anymore in the MB-Quotes Database

One place where the great imperial metric thing is really getting weird is the SMD world.

Some packages have imperial spacing, most have metric, and as Wil says, most thru-hole parts are imperial, too, so trying to route these using a CAD software with a specific grid gets to be “challenging” - read “irritating”.

Ahh, fun and games.
