Difference between Transistors BC 547A and BC 547C?

Hi,

I’ve just received all my parts necessary to build a midibox sid.

but one question remains. although I have ordered the BC 547A Transistor which is needed for the AOUT  Module, I received a BC 547C. Is there any difference between those two or can I safely put the BC 547C on the Board?

Hi.

There is difference (probably hfe) between these devices, but it doesn’t have any significance here.

Bye, Moebius

The difference of the letter is the gain. A´s do have a little less gain than B or C transistor types. But in 99% of all cases that does not matter at all. Especially not in *superbly designed* Midiboxes.  ;D

thanx for your replies.

so that means I don’t have to send the transistors back to replace them with BC 547A.

the letter at the end notates the manufacturer of the transistor, as mobeus said hfe might be slightly different. nothing to worry about as long as the base number is correct “BC 547” even if the number after is like BC 547-25, BC547-50 etc…etc…

hope this helps
