default midi mapping, using external midi controller with midibox sid

hello,

i was wondering, i have not been able to find information about this on the site. is there a way i can use MIDI CC events and SysEx commands to program and control the MIDIbox SID without a control surface? If so how would i go about doing this? I have a doepfer drehbank and would love to program it and have a dedicated controller for tweaking and creating patches but i do not know any of the MIDI commands that the MIDIBox SID requires. Is there a default documentation or explaination on the ucapps site somewhere or can anyone else help me? thank you very much.

Short answer:

CC only works for mbSID v1, SysEx works for v2 as well

In the sid applocation download zip file there’s a text file called midibox_sid_v2_sysex_implementation.txt which has all the info you need.

thanks a lot. i appreciate it. just needed the midi implementation sheet!

Might there be a good doc out there that explains how exactly to set this up? I have the text file, but I’m trying to figure out how to map my sliders and knobs of my M-Audio Axiom and I have yet to be able to make the MB-SID do anything  I know it has something to do with the MSB/LSB stuff, but that was not entirely clear to me?

Once upon a time, I would have linked you here:

It’s a sad time, the online midi community should mourn that site… try midi.org.
