Core Stmp32 Module - about J2 jumper - IC6 regulator 7805

Hi everyone,

i am building a MIDIbox SEQ V4

everything is solder, today was suppose to be the big day … but not,

when i powered on, nothing happen.

indeed, The IC6 regulator 7805 get really hot and deliver only 1.5V

i got 2 questions:

  • my regulator is working, i have test it, so what is the matter ?

  • about J2 jumper, how is it possible that a jumper is for connecting 0V with +5V ?

one more thing, i am sure there is not short-circuit between pin 2 and pin 3 from IC6

thank you verymuch for your help, 'cause i need it

have a good day

Hi!

J2 is not a jumper. It is a connector for a) suppling other devices with 5V dc or b) supplying the core module with 5V dc from another source when the PSU part of the module is not used. When you put jumper there you make a short cirquet and that’s why your regulator gets hot. Remove the jumper and let’s hope your regulator is OK. I did somthing similar once and it didn’t brake the regulator.

Good luck!

Hi Strophlex,

many thankx for your message.

well, i never put a jumper on J2 because it seems weird to me

but now, with your help, the function of J2 is understood.

i’ve unplugged everything : J15a - J15b (LCD), J8 - J9 (DIN and DOUT)

then the regulator is Working OK and delivered 5v as it should.

But now, when i plugged my mbhp Core stm32 with Mios studio i got this message “no response from the core”

as you can see, i need to work again and check everything because i got troubles coming from everywhere …

But i wont give up

have a good day

Hi there,

a short message because my sequenceur is done !

I’m really happy of course

the trouble I got from my last post there was because of some wrong soldering … a silly mistake …

Wish you a really nice summer !
