BPM display with 7-segment LEDs... how?

hi,

can someone kindly point me in the right direction, please?

i want to have a bpm display (3 digits) on my mb808-sequencer “clone”, but i cant find relevant information on how to connect the 7 segment LED displays.

i found out there are two different kinds: common cathode and common anode. which ones do i need?
