I have a couple midi boxes. I haven’t used them for a long time but I have two stereo SIDs and a MIDIBOX FM. One of the SIDS is a sammich but the other two are terrible bespoke ones with lots of space in the box. At this point I wonder if there is some small board that can be easily installed in the case and wired to the MIDI in order to have MIDI over usb-C?

Normally one cannot recommend the “all-integrated in one cable” USB MIDI interfaces as they often suffer from problems, i.e. with SysEx transfers.

But i like CME as a brand and haven’t tried this one yet:

#

> **[CME C2MIDI Pro: 2-in-1 USB + MIDI cable with filter & mapper](https://www.cme-pro.com/c2midi-pro/)**
>
> The world's first dual-role USB MIDI cable with standalone 5-pin DIN MIDI cable functionality including customisable filter and mapper

On paper it should do what you want and it is not overly expensive at below 30€, maybe give it a try and report back?

Thanks and best regards!

Given your use case scenario, you could theoretically do it with an Arduino pro micro, provided that the pro micro is one of the variants that has USB-C AND is a 5V variant. Program the Pro Micro as a USB MIDI device, and slave it via IIC to one of your core modules.
