Hi, looking for good solid panel mount pots, nice and stiff like an allen & heath mixer. Im going to be using Farnell in the UK for the parts, and looking at the ALPS section (as i hear they are very good) - the 2 i have narrowed it down to are as follows:
http://uk.farnell.com/alps/rk11k11410ka/potentiometer-10ka/dp/1191745
http://uk.farnell.com/alps/rk09711110k/potentiometer-10k/dp/1191710
Whats the difference between these 2? (apart from the 2nd one looking cooler and all metal)
Does the different shaft heights limit what knob I can use?
It seems ALPS type B pots are log, but their type As are LINEAR. Its linear i need right?
Thanks for the help
Looks like you could use them… there 10K Lineair so shouldn’t give any problems.
The difference between the two? The price
Looks like one is horizont PCB mount and the other vertical.
Grtz,
Richard
excellent, I might buy 1 of each as a tester to see what they are like and if they are worth the extra.
Cheers
good idea. But here in Holland farnell charges 5 euro’s handling costs for orders below 50 euro’s.. don’t know if it’s the same in the UK. So
it could be expensive to order just 2 pots

If you’re still undecided give the Alpha 16mm pots a shot - I have grown to love em.
Is 16mm the shaft length? I still havent fully worked this out
Does this affect the type of knob you can have?
Ideally I want some with a centre detent and some without, but which are of the same type/brand so they have the same “feel”
Cheers

In this case it’s the body diameter.
