Another questiooooon!!

Besides the multigate i would like to insert in the box a mini mixer for the stereo outs…

There would be 6 audio outs in the box i dream :stuck_out_tongue: :

4 outs are the direct mono outs of each sid

and 1 stereo out is the main, in wich each signal coming from the sids passes thru the volume and pan knob to be placed in the stereo imagine.

Can anyone tell me where can i find the “simple” circuits for a minimal mixer like the one i imagine?

I think all the pan and the volume knobs (and even a possible “main volume” knob) could find placed on a modified and extended front panel…

What are the complications about the alimentation of these other circuits?

Is it possible to put an alimentation system directly inside the box???  ::slight_smile:

P.S. i’m not sure about the meaning of the word “vectorboard”. is the full of little holes one that i see in the gallery of the step c? right?

You’re right about the vectorboard. It is best if you can find the ones with the copper pads around the holes. You can do the whole thing on vectorboard if you want, but i think that would be  a lot of work. well, compared to ordering the premade boards…

The mixer could be done, but if you plan on reusing the original C64 case like Thorsten did, it is very tight in there with a full 4xsid and full cs. I would think about a rack mount case, which is wider than the c64 panel, to allow for room for mixer and gate controls, and has more internal volume for the extra circuits.There are lots of simple mixer circuits on the net. You could even go for a VCA design and use the planned aout’s to add automation to the panning and volume… but perhaps that is truly a mad idea…

I’ve also started a topic, and while a few people answered, it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, I went ahead and designed a custom simple 4x4 mixer for the SID with balanced outputs, signal routing, panning, and stereo support (with two out 1/4" plugs you can have stereo of any mix of the 4 SIDs).

I’m going to be vectorboarding it very soon.  I’ve already breadboarded it, and it worked well.  It has a gain of about 1.5x

The only thing it doesn’t have is headphone outs, but I think you could tack that on as another module.
