74HC595 Problem

I’ve having a problem with the 74HC595’s getting very hot. Prior to putting in the 74HC595s on the MB-6582 PCB, all the voltages check, but as soon as I put in the first one the voltage drops dramatically. Would this be the product of bad 74HC595’s?

Hi lead bromide, welcome aboard!

Shift register don’t usually get warm at all. So either there’s a problem with the wiring/soldering or your 74HC595 are faulty.

Thanks nILS for the reply. I just realized that I had the shift registers in backwards :(. I’m assuming they’re fried, so I just ordered new ones.
