I just thought i’d point out that I could no longer order the 16F from the microchip sample site, not really a problem for most, but it could well indicate that production of the device is scheduled to cease however I truly hope this is not the case…
But, now that the PIC18F452 is there, is this really a big problem then ?
Depends if you want a cheap midi router… 
As you first get the 16F and the 18F for nearly the same price that doesnt matter. And second as you get the samples for *free(^^)* that absolutely doesnt matter at all.
:)I just received 16f877’s from Microchip this week. However it was not from the sample site as I use this part for a remote control processor. The midio128 has led me into several other applications for 877’s, a good chip. Thanks to Thorsten… Monte
Id forget it and go with the pic18f452, get 3 of the free samples, and since u can get 5 total free samples get two of the PLCC versions , cause they are not cheap. I am going to redesign stuff to work with the PLCC chips soon.
